Zach Kemp and Jared Strait, who will both pitch for the Flames this summer, were named Pitcher of the Week in back-to-back weeks by the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC).

Wells College baseball pitcher Zach Kemp was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 2, 2017. Kemp turned in his best pitching performance of the year and pitched the Express to a win over Utica College.

Kemp pitched six strong innings and allowed just two runs on two hits. He had seven strikeouts and walked four. It was his first collegiate victory, and it helped Wells to its fourth win of the year in the program’s inaugural season.

In the previous week, Strait was the winning pitcher in the first victory for Wells as a varsity baseball program. The rookie pitcher tossed six innings of one-hit ball with nine strikeouts. Strait issued two walks while both runs in the 7-2 victory over Hilbert were unearned.
