Player Bio

The Mercer Island High (WA) standout posted a slash line of .338/.456/.507 in his senior year earning him the school’s Silver Slugger award. A smooth fielder, Scalzo made only 2 errors in 25 games on his way to a .989 fielding percentage. As a junior, he led his team to the Washington State Championship.

A two-sport athlete, Scalzo also played four years at quarterback for Mercer Island. No stranger to high level competition, Anthony played in the 2009 Little League World Series.

“Anthony will be converting to outfield next spring. He has great fielding instincts and strong arm that should make the transition smooth,” noted Ryan Stevens, Flames Director of Baseball, “Anthony has a very solid set of skills and we have high expectations for him.”

Anthony is a business major who hopes to own his own business some day. He is the son of Christina and Daniel Scalzo of Mercer Island, WA.
