Ithaca Transfer is Former Jamesville-Dewitt Star  

Syracuse, NY September 19, 2016: The Onondaga Flames collegiate summer baseball league team announced today they have signed 6′ 4″ right-handed pitcher Jake Binder of Jamesville, NY.  The Jamesville-Dewitt binder-jakeHigh School star was a 2015 Northeast Region Honorable Mention and was selected to the All-CNY and All-State Team in his junior season. Binder helped lead his team to a NYS sectional championship.

After a successful freshman season at Fairfield University where he allowed only 4 extra base hits in his 15 appearances (18.1 IP), Binder transferred to Ithaca College and will play for the Bombers this year. Jake played for the Syracuse Junior Chiefs of the New York Collegiate Baseball League last summer and appeared in eight games in relief. He struck out 23 in 26 2/3 IP on his way to 3 saves and a 2-1 record.

“Jake is a gifted pitcher and we are excited to have to him join our staff next summer,” said Ryan Stevens, Flames Director of Baseball, “he has tremendous potential and we eager to help him develop.”

A business and finance major, Jake is the son of Joy and Theodore Binder of Jamesville, NY.
