Onondaga-Flames Tee-shirt logo_border-PNG-250x199The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League is proud to announce the newest addition to its roster, the Onondaga Flames.

The Flames will join 13 other upstate New York franchises in one of the fastest growing summer collegiate leagues in the country. Just having completed its sixth year, the PGCBL has grown from 8 to 14 teams and had more than 250 alumni play professional baseball.

The Flames will be operated by Wayne and Alyce Walker.

“I spent all summer watching PGCBL games and talking to the owners of several franchises. The players were high quality and the management top notch. We are delighted to join them,” said Walker, the team president.

The team will play its home games at the Onondaga Community College Baseball Complex, which is adjacent to the Onondaga Nation, an original member of the Iroquois Confederacy.

“The Onondaga Nation continue to be responsible for the gathering of the leaders of all the Six Nations in Grand Council. They are keepers of the Central Fire and we have chosen to honor their role by naming our team the Flames,” explained Walker.

“The Onondaga CC Baseball complex is the best campus baseball facility in upstate New York. The Flames are going to attract some superb talent based on their facility alone. We expect them to compete for a PGCBL title in year one,” said PGCBL President Jeff Kunion.

The PGCBL is affiliated with Perfect Game, the nation’s largest independent scouting service. Its alumni include more than 1,500 PGCBL/PG participants who were either drafted by MLB or played professional baseball.
