Onondaga, NY September 17, 2017: The Onondaga Flames of the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) announced today that they have signed former Jamesville-Dewitt third basemen, Casey Kretsch, a 2017 Onondaga High School League All-Star selection, to play in the 2018 summer season. An excellent hitter, Kretsch has a keen batter’s eye as witnessed by an average OBP of over .500 for his last two years of high school ball.
“Casey is a perfect fit for our big ballpark at OCC. He has a proven ability to drive the gaps. He is a patient hitter with a good sense of the strike zone. He’s also a good fielder with a former pitcher’s strong arm, Casey is your prototypical third baseman – we are very fortunate to have him join the Flames.” commented Wayne Walker, Flames president.
Kretsch is a freshmen at LeMoyne College and is undecided on his major. Casey lives in Jamesville with his parent Michelle and Michael. He has a 14-year old brother, Corey.
The New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) is the oldest league in New York State – celebrating its 40th season in 2018. The league is a member of the National Alliance of Summer College Baseball (NASCB), a group of non-profit summer collegiate baseball leagues that are each partially funded by Major League Baseball.
