Syracuse, N.Y. June 13, 2018: The Flames have won back-to-back games for the first time this season after taking down the Olean Oilers 5-2 on Wednesday.

The scoring started in the 3rd inning, when first baseman Mike Steffan came around to score on center fielder Jack Chernow’s RBI single. The Flames would then put up four runs between the 4th and 5th innings, including 2 runs on a double by third baseman AJ DiFillipo.

Two runs scored by the Oilers in the 5th and 6th innings were the only blemishes in what was otherwise a stellar outing for starting pitcher Gunnar Groen, who picked up his first win of the season.

The win brings Onondaga’s record on the season to 5-6. The Flames will have a chance to bring their record to .500 when they host the Cortland Crush at 7 p.m. tomorrow night.
