Liverpool High Southpaw Ace to Join Flames Straight Out of High School

Syracuse NY, April 26, 2017:  In a rare signing of a high school player prior to entering college, the Onondaga Flames announced today that they have added left-hand power pitcher Jeff DeStefano to their summer season roster. DeStefano will join the Flames at the end of the Liverpool High School season.

Last year as a junior, DeStefano, was named to the All-League Team and the NYSSWA All-State team on the strength of a 5-1 season that included a 51 strikeouts in 50 innings and a 1.82 ERA. So far this year, he has logged a 1.34 ERA over 15 innings.

“Jeff is bigger and stronger this year and his fast ball is really nasty.” said Ryan Stevens, Flames General Manager, “We think Jeff is a terrific prospect and, even though we will only have him for the last half of the season, we think so much of him that we wanted him on our roster anyway.”

“Our league is a very high level of competition with many players drafted by MLB each year. Jeff will get a taste of top-notch collegiate play and we feel he will rise to meet the challenge”, commented team president Wayne Walker, “we’re keeping our eye on his younger brother, Michael too!”

DeStefano is the son of Linda and Steve DeStefano and brother of Michael and Marissa of Liverpool, NY. Steve is the owner operator of the popular Chadwick’s Sports Bar & Grill 2529 James Street in Syracuse.
