Sunday, June 10th: Liverpool, N.Y. – On Sunday night, the Onondaga Flames went on the road to face the Syracuse Spartans. After the first three Flame batters went down one, two, three the Flames started behind the eight ball as the Spartans batted around and scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Flames were able to battle their way back into the ball game but were not able to pull off the comeback. The Flames lost 10-7.
Connor Morrisroe (University of Albany) got the start on the mound for the Flames. Morrisroe was quickly relieved after just one inning of work by Jimmy Flahive (American International College). Flahive pitched four complete innings striking out three Spartans. Flahive was later relieved by Casey Kretsch (Le Moyne College), Jake Griffin (John Hopkins) and Keon Taylor (Chaffey College) would also see time on the mound.
The Flames were led by Adam Gordon (Cal State LA) who went two for four with an RBI double in the seventh inning. Also, Jack Chernow (Columbia University) went three for four with an RBI double.
The Onondaga Flames fall to 3-5 on the season. They will be on the road again tomorrow to face the Niagara Power who are 3-6. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm.
