Onondaga, NY October 7, 2017: The Onondaga Flames of the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL), announced today that 2017 NYS Section III First Team All-Star Jake Evans, will join the Flames for the 2018 summer season.
Evans, former star shortstop of the Liverpool HS 2017 Sectional Champions, is noted for his slick fielding. “Jake is a high-level middle infield defender who continues to improve daily on the offensive side. Jake’s skill level and make-up gives him a chance to make an immediate impact in our program here at Binghamton University and challenge for a starting role as a freshman.” remarked Tim Sinicki, Bearcat Head Baseball Coach (@BinghamtonBASE).
The 6’1″ 160 pound Evans also had a career slash line of .371/.421/.472 for the Liverpool Warriors.The new Bearcat freshman will join former Liverpool teammate Jeff DeStefano (@GriffsBaseball) who will be pitching for the Flames again next summer.

The Bearcats are among the elite D1 teams in the America East and the Northeast. Long-time Head Coach Tim Sinicki has led Binghamton to four NCAA Regional berths in the last eight years, Sinicki’s Bearcats have won three of the last four America East championships, having captured the conference titles in 2013, 2014 and 2016. The Bearcats have advanced to the postseason nine times in the last 11 years and have played in the conference title game six times in the last 10 years.
The New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) is the oldest league in New York State – celebrating its 40th season in 2018. The league is a member of the National Alliance of Summer College Baseball (NASCB), a group of non-profit summer collegiate baseball leagues that are each partially funded by Major League Baseball.
